Reading the exhibition and venue pages

What you can do

Tap an exhibition you’re interested in to open its exhibition detail page, where you can check the dates, opening hours, admission, address, tags, and more all in one place. Tap the venue name to go to the venue page, where you can see that museum’s opening hours and browse its past, current, and upcoming exhibitions in a single list.

Reading the exhibition detail page

Open it by tapping an exhibition card from the list or the map.

Badges show the situation at a glance

The badges above the title tell you the day’s situation at a glance.

  • “X days left” / “Ending soon”: the exhibition is nearing the end of its run
  • “Closed”: the date you picked falls on the venue’s regular closed day
  • “May open specially”: it’s a public holiday, so the venue may open even on a normal closed day (check the official website)
  • “May be closed in lieu”: the previous day was a public holiday, so the venue may be closed in lieu the next day

During the relevant holiday period, a yellow notice banner appears at the top of the page warning that “Today is ___, so some venues may have a special closure (or special opening).”

Quick info (Dates / opening status for the day you picked)

The Dates field shows the start and end dates, with the opening hours for the day you picked next to it. Before the run starts, it shows “This exhibition hasn’t started yet” along with the start date; after the run ends, it shows “This exhibition has ended.”

From “Add to calendar” below the opening hours, you can add the event to Google Calendar or your device’s calendar app (.ics format).

Overview, admission, and venue information

  • Overview: a description of the exhibition (shown only for exhibitions confirmed by our team)
  • Admission: prices shown by category, such as adults, university students, and high school students. If there’s an advance price, it’s shown alongside. A link to a ticket sales site may also be included
  • Venue: address and closed days. There’s a button to open Google Maps and a “Find exhibitions nearby” button (see exhibitions on show around that venue on the map)

SNS (poster and social embeds)

For exhibitions that have official social posts (X / Instagram) or YouTube videos registered, an embed appears in the “SNS” section. Tap it to open the original post.

Adding to “Want to go” / sharing

The top-right of the page has a share button and a heart.

  • Heart: tap it to add the exhibition to your “Want to go” list (login required). Tapping it shows an “Added to Want to go” toast. Tapping again opens a confirmation modal to remove it
  • Share button: easily share an exhibition you’re interested in to social media (X / LINE, etc.) or with friends. Tapping it opens your device’s share menu

Checking the official website / reporting incorrect information

From the red “Check on the official website” button fixed at the bottom of the screen, you can check the latest information on the official website.

If the venue’s official website and the exhibition’s official website are different, a “Venue website” link also appears below the button.

If you spot an error in the listed information, it helps us a lot if you report it from the “Report incorrect information” link partway down the page. For details, see When you find a mistake in exhibition information.

Reading the venue page

Open it by tapping the venue name on the exhibition detail page (the link below the title).

Basic venue information

The top of the page shows the venue name, area, and address, with the opening hours and closed days below.

  • Opening hours are shown by day of the week. For venues whose hours change for a limited period (for example, extended summer opening), the hours are grouped by period
  • Some venues also list the last admission time, shown as “(last entry HH:MM)”
  • From the row of buttons, you can access the official website, Google Maps, and Find exhibitions near this venue

Adding to “favorite venues”

Use the heart to the right of the venue name to register the venue as one of your “favorite venues” (login required). When a new exhibition starts at a favorite venue, we’ll let you know with a notification (if you have notifications turned on).

This venue’s exhibition list

The lower part shows a list of exhibitions currently or previously on show at that venue.

  • Exhibitions that are on show or upcoming appear as normal cards
  • Exhibitions that have ended show “This exhibition has ended”
  • Tap a card to open the exhibition detail

Common stumbling points

  • “May open specially” or “May be closed in lieu” is showing: because of a public holiday, or a holiday the day before, the venue may deviate from its usual closed-day rule. Always confirm the final opening status on the official website
  • Some information isn’t listed: if an exhibition has an official website but you can’t find it on Bijusanpo, you can request it from When an exhibition you want isn’t listed
