Add to Home Screen
Why adding it to your Home Screen is handy
Bijusanpo is a web service, but adding it to your Home Screen lets you use it like an app.
- No more launching the browser and typing in the URL every time
- The browser’s address bar is hidden, so you get more screen space
- If you enable notifications, you can receive alerts about new exhibitions and exhibitions about to end
The steps differ between iPhone (iOS Safari) and Android (Chrome). Use the tabs below to switch devices as you read. The tab matching the device you’re on is selected automatically.
Steps
Step 1. Open the share menu
- iPhone (Safari): Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up) at the bottom of the screen
- Android (Chrome): Tap the ︙ menu at the top right of the screen
Step 2. Add to Home Screen / Install app
- iPhone: Scroll down the menu and tap “Add to Home Screen”
- Android: Tap “Install app” or “Add to Home screen” from the menu
Step 3. Done
- iPhone: Tap “Add” in the confirmation screen
- Android: Tap “Install” in the confirmation screen
Once the icon appears on your Home Screen, you’re all set.
Common stumbling points
- If you’re using Chrome or another browser on iPhone, reopen the page in Safari before adding it. “Add to Home Screen” doesn’t appear in browsers other than Safari
- If “Install app” doesn’t appear on Android, check whether the menu has “Add to Home screen” instead. The wording varies by device and browser version
- If you get logged out when opening from the added icon, log in through the browser first and then add it to your Home Screen again
Next step
Once you’ve added it to your Home Screen, go on to Receive notifications to set up alerts about exhibitions ending and new exhibitions. On iPhone, you can’t allow notifications unless it’s added to your Home Screen, so it’s smoothest to set this up right after reading this article.
